Website Development: What Your Color Scheme Says
- 5 Comment
While web developers may disagree about layout, designs, and the sales copy, many cannot disagree that the color scheme is an important element to any webpage. One of the most important elements of website development is your color scheme, and how that will affect your target audience.
In our business mentoring for Your Net Biz and My Internet Business in one of our first meetings we talk about what message they want their website to portray. While you are selling products and services with YourNetBiz there is always a message other than buy me that should be implemented. Identifying that is critical to your websites success.
Incorporating your color scheme with your online message is important. Research indicates that consumer’s moods are affected by the color scheme that you choose. While it may seem a little odd, the fact is that big corporations will tell their sales people what color schemes they should wear, as some are more likely to close a sale. The same holds true, and may even be more true with your website.
For my Your Net Biz site I chose red. Some have said can make some angry, like the bull in the ring staring down the red blanket. This is not the case. Our online business mentors, and training platform is different from what others are doing, and is being recognized for our work with entrepreneurs. We make a bold statement going against marketing companies, lead companies and others that take peoples money with little to nothing in return.
That is the foundation for our red theme. Red is considered Bold, energetic. While it may not be a color in your website development for relaxation, we don’t want our visitors to relax but take notice to the facts we are saying.
Now we have others that have chosen blue schemes. The reason for the blue is it offers relaxation, and offers an outlook for brighter tomorrow. Many see the blue scheme and think of sunny beaches, and sunny skies.
Yellow is my least favorite color. I am not a big yellow fan, but I will say if you mix yellow and black my opinion tends to wave a bit. Yellow is indicative of bright atmosphere, with beautiful sunlight, creating a relaxing yet vibrant surrounding. When you mix the black with Yellow it makes people take notice, and it has been proven to increase sales margins.
While the statistics are pointing toward Yellow and black I can’t seem to do a website on these themes. It’s a personal barrier that perhaps I should look into. I have done a few for My YourNetBiz members, and they have had success. My own however, I am not so sure…
I think colors sets the mood, but it still goes back to personal preference.

For website development you should be well versed in HTML as well as PHP and MYSQL. In addition to coding you will need to understand webserver functions and site management.
