YourNetBiz Poll – Television or Social Media

Yesterday I headed to a gathering with some YourNetBiz members.  While I was waiting grabbed a copy of Time magazine with funny guy Jay Leno gracing the front cover.    Jay Leno Is He The New Future, and can he save the media crises that television appears to be in?

I remember Thursday nights at my house, was all about Friends, and ER.  Meals were planned, appointments cancelled to accommodate for our Thursday night shows.  At that time by far Thursdays were the hottest nights on television.  Now the television media is experiencing a massive decline.  Struggling to get the masses back to there television set.

It brings some interesting subjects on why we have stopped watching television.  I very seldom watch television, and thought it contributed to me training and working YourNetBiz.  But as I analyze it, I am getting rather bored with the topics on television.  Reality show hits and misses have dominated airways for two years, and it’s always some drama that leaves you questioning fact or fiction.  It leaves me questioning is it the line up or is it something more sinister.

This left a large discussion during our YourNetBiz meeting.  Another alternative for the decline is social media.    As we discussed social media is becoming a more popular avenue.  Not just within our Internet Business industry.  More and more people are turning to this as a form of education and as a form of connecting with other people.

In our business mentoring for Your Net Biz and My Internet Business we focus on social media as a free marketing strategy.  However more of these people are using it as a past time, passing up the television ads.  Good news for those that are trying to build an online business, not good news for the revenue of TV ad time.

We know that social networking is the #3 cause of divorce.  Are we also divorcing our favorite TV shows?
